The season was decided by Julio's goal in the 89th minute. The Plough played against Valor SC for the final game of the season and because Pixar had won their game earlier that morning, a loss or a tie for the Plough meant second place in the league, while a win meant first. Frantic is a great word to describe the first half of yesterday's game. Unfortunately there were many sloppy and rushed passes, a few straight to their forwards in front of the and goal, and at times the Plough seemed to be playing very desperately. Julio scored a great goal in the first half but it was countered by a penalty kick given up in the box, which Valor scored off of. Valor had an incredible opportunity to score again with a ball right in front of the goal, but their forward got flustered and missed and Mark scooped up the ball. Mark had a great game; Valor had some great shots that Mark, seemingly effortlessly, knocked out. Who knew Mark was so graceful.
After regrouping at half time, the second half was about 85% controlled by the Plough's offense. Julio, Tunde, Victor, Ngong and even some of the defenders including Mike and Aden had some great chances and kept pressuring and shooting the entire half. Valor got very few chances as the defense made sure to keep a tight line. As the clock drew close to 90 minutes Julio seized the opportunity of the keeper being out of position and took a far away shot right over his head into the back of the net, winning the game and the season for the Plough! Yay!
This was a great season for the Plough, there were lots of goals, great saves, great communication and support, and it was fun to watch, play, and take pictures of the number one team in the league. To celebrate, lots of pictures!!

Last Week's Crush
Sorry for the delay! Last Sunday, August 11, the Plough won 13-0 against ILM. As game time approached the Plough had eight players and ILM had even fewer and we were wondering if there would even be a game. But more players showed up for the Plough, 11 in fact (including myself) and ILM asked some of the players from the previous game if they would join. ILM ended up with a couple subs and the Plough ended up with just 11. With all keepers gone Aden played in the goal the first half and Zaher played the second half, though he had come to just watch due to injury. Scoring began immediately to such an extent that around the middle of the first half the substitute keeper for ILM got so frustrated that he just quit and left the game. From what I remember Tunde scored five goals, two of them headers, Julio scored several, and Ngong got a hat trick. There were a few tiffs between ILM and the Plough probably due to their frustration but other than words the game wasn't overly aggressive.
I was playing the entire game so I wasn't able to take pictures, but here are some from halftime!
